Flannel originated in Wales back in the sixteenth century. The fabric became very popular during the Industrial Revolution and made the trip ‘across the pond’ in 1869 in the form of flannel long johns. The fabric gained popularity in America with blue collar workers as they built railroads and the industry that defined the twentieth century.
